Mulled Apple Cider Recipe
Fresh Mulled Apple Cider for Cold Winter days !!
It’s been really long since I posted a blog due to all the work happening with my Shitals Food Cottage & our magazine Chai Shai Aur Baatein. But my first love has always been writing & sharing recipes so hopefully, I will be more regular from this Year2022!
Winter Season is the season to Eat, Drink & Be Happy…. Most of us love these cold winter days especially in the tropical countries where it is hot & sultry most of the days
A drink that I have always associated with Winter is the Mulled Cider that is made in almost all homes abroad especially in the cold countries….it is a traditional British drink made by heating apple cider with spices
I got to know about this on one of my travels & thereafter have made it every year in the Winter season as my Hubby & me love it. It’s also very healthy as it is made with fresh Apples & not the ready juice.
Apples are one of the most nutritious fruits ( as they say “ An apple a day keeps the doctor away ” & this drink has some amazing spices added to it to keep you warm in the cold Winter days.

This Recipe of Mulled Cider has been shared with me by a British lady I met in Switzerland when we were at a small pub in Lucerne who was there with her grandson on holiday, which was really adorable. I got talking to her about how warm Mumbai is & I was really shivering there even in the first week of May! That’s when she recounted how they make this Mulled Cider in their country on the cold days, they also add some alcohol like rum to it but the kids are given without it of course.
here’s my recipe for the Mulled Apple Cider especially for the Winter Season
- 4 cups of fresh apple juice
- 2 tablespoons organic apple cider vinegar
- 6 to 7 cloves
- 4 star anise
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 to 5 slices of orange
- 2 tablespoons of rum or brandy ( optional )
- Put all the ingredients except the alcohol & orange slices in a pan
- Heat on a medium flame till it starts boiling
- Boil for 2 to 3 mins & then strain the liquid
- Now add in the orange slices & serve warm in individual glasses garnished with a cinnamon stick & star anise
- If adding the rum/ brandy, add in whilst serving
That was a really quick & easy recipe I shared for you but it is definitely a must-try for the Winter Season …
Wishing you a very Happy Year 2022
Be Happy & Thankful
