Spicy Masoor Dal
Today I am sharing a Dal recipe with U people as Dal is my comfort food whenever i don’t want to overload myself or after i have eaten out a lot ( n feeling guilty as hell) Dal or any lentils give you so much protein which we herbivores are usually deficit in so try including dals/lentils in your everyday diet as much as possible
My recipe has Masoor/ Red lentil which is so delicious in taste n flavour n combined with steamed rice is a pleasure or have hot brown rice if u want. Even a hot paratha /roti goes so well with it
Ingredient for Masoor Dal:
- 1 cup whole masoor/red lentil soaked for an hour n boiled
- 1 onion sliced
- 2 tomatoes chopped fine
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tbsp dhania powder/ coriander powder
- 1 tsp jeera powder/ cumin powder
- 1 tsp amchur powder/ dried mango powder
- Half tsp rock salt
- 2 cups water
- 2 tsp ghee / clarified butter ( can add more, tastes better with more)
- Salt to taste
- 1 boiled potato diced
Fresh Coriander chopped finely to sprinkle on top.
Heat ghee in a pan n add the sliced onion , saute for a minute then add the garlic, ginger,again saute a minute then add all the masalas like the chilli, coriander, cumin, amchur, rocksalt n salt. Saute everything well for almost 3min till u get a lovely aroma.
Add the boiled dal and tomatoes and let it cook for 3 minutes, then add 2 cups water and cook till it gets a boil, lastly add the potatoes and cook for a minute.
Garnish with coriander leaves n Enjoy it hot with your rice, some sliced onions n green chilli!!
