Holi Malpua Bites
HOLI – A FESTIVAL OF COLOURS of Happiness, of Forgiveness, of Joy & Peace !!!
Celebrated in India on the evening of the Full Moon Day in the Month of Phalgun ( usually in March) it is a festival to thank the GODS for a Good Harvest…The previous night a BONFIRE which is known as HOLIKA DAHAN is lit & people gather around to perform rituals & pray that the Evil be destroyed !!! The morning after is celebrated with colours & water… Water guns & Balloons are used to play with & smear colours on each other.
Holi Delicacies have to include Bhang which is prepared across the country…The Non Intoxicating Variation for this is the Thandai which is loved for its amazing Taste & Flavours.
There are numerous Food Deliciousness like the Gujiya, Malpua, Samosa, Pakodas, Kachori associated with Holi. Nowadays so many Interesting New Dishes have been introduced.
As this Festival is celebrated with Good Food, lots of Fun, I am going to share a Unique Recipe, A little Twist to my Favourite Lemon Malpua Bites So Easy & Quick to prepare.
I have named this the RANG BARSE BITES coz the Bollywood song ” Rang Barse ” is synonymous with Holi & a favourite with most !!!
So let’s get started with RANG BARSE BITES or Holi Malpua bites!!!!
Holi Malpua Bites Recipe
Ingredients
For the Malpua
- 1 cup Maida / All purpose flour
- Half cup Rava/ Suji / Semolina
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup milk
- Ghee / clarified butter for Cooking
For the sugar syrup
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup water
- Half teaspoon saffron / kesar
For the Stuffing
- 3/4 cup mashed Paneer / Cottage Cheese
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons chopped roasted almonds/pistachio
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon rose essence / Rose Water
Method
For the Malpua
- Mix all the ingredients in a bowl
- Beat everything well together
- Keep aside for 10 minutes
- Heat a Non-stick pan ( not very hot )
- Spread a small quantity of the batter
- You can spread 4 to 5 at a time
- Apply a little ghee / clarified butter
- Cook well on both sides
- Place the Malpua in the sugar syrup for about 5 minutes
- If you don’t want to make mini Malpua, you can even make big ones, just spread more batter on the pan
For the sugar syrup
- Heat the sugar, water, saffron all together
- Let it boil for 5 minutes
For the Stuffing
- Mix all the ingredients together & chill for about an hour
For the Assembling
- Take your Favourite Decorative tray / Dish
- Place the dipped Malpua on the tray
- Put some stuffing on top
- Garnish with Almonds & Lemon Slices !!!
- U can also sprinkle a little Thandai powder if you like …
The Delicious Malpua bites are ready to be served, the Tangy Lemon Flavour just sets this Dish apart !!!
A Very Easy Recipe to make for Holi for your Loved Ones…
& If you literally want to make it Rang Barse, add a little Bhaang powder to it
